Creating a Good Foundation for the Season Ahead
Who Is it for?
This women’s ski holiday in Japan is designed for women who enjoy skiing groomed runs and want to start the season with a stronger understanding of their skiing.
Perhaps you’ve reached a point where you’re comfortably getting down most terrain, but you’re not always sure why one turn feels great and the next doesn’t. Maybe you’d like to feel more balanced, more in control, or less tired at the end of the day.
The focus of this week is not on chasing powder or skiing challenging off-piste terrain. Instead, we’ll slow things down, build awareness and develop the skills that create better skiing in all conditions.
Whether you’re returning to skiing after a break, looking to refine your technique, or simply wanting a better understanding of how your skis work beneath you, this week provides the time and environment to do just that.
Typical Ability Level
This week is best suited to women who can comfortably ski green and blue runs, and are beginning to explore steeper blue or easier red terrain.
You don’t need to be an advanced skier. More important is a willingness to learn, ask questions and spend time developing your skills.
Small group sizes allow plenty of individual feedback, and groups will be matched to ensure everyone is skiing with others of a similar ability level.
What we will work on
The exact focus will vary depending on the group, but we’ll spend time developing the fundamentals that underpin all good skiing.
Topics may include:
• Stance and balance
• Steering the skis
• Edging movements
• Turn shape and speed control
• Mountain tactics and terrain choices
• Understanding ski-snow interaction
Throughout the week we’ll build awareness of what the skis are doing beneath us and how our movements influence the outcome of each turn.
You’ll gain a better understanding of not only what to do, but why it works and how to apply it in different situations.
Why Choose a December Ski Holiday in Niseko?
December is often Niseko’s calm before the storm.
The Christmas and New Year crowds have yet to arrive, the mountain is generally quieter, and consistent snowfall usually provides excellent conditions for developing skills on groomed terrain.
Why Small Groups?
Women on Edge weeks are intentionally kept small, with a target of four women per instructor.
Smaller groups allow more individual feedback, greater flexibility and more opportunities to adapt each day to the needs of the group and the conditions on the mountain.

Where You’ll Stay
You will stay at The Miru Niseko in a beautiful chalet with twin-share rooms for all guests. The open-plan lounge and dining area provides plenty of space to relax together after skiing.
Located a short drive from the slopes and the famous onsens of the Annupuri area, the lodge offers a peaceful base to enjoy both the skiing and slower side of Niseko life.
Your Niseko Ski Instructor and Host
I’ve been wintering in Niseko since 2016. Before discovering a passion for teaching skiing in 2018, I worked in Japanese restaurants and developed a deep appreciation for Japan’s hospitality and food culture.
Women on Edge brings those two worlds together.
My goal is simple: Help you become a better skier while sharing some of the experiences that have kept me coming back to Japan year after year.
Relaxation and Onsen Experience
Niseko’s onsens are world-class, especially in the Annupuri area just 10–15 minutes from our chalet.
I’ll guide you through Japanese onsen etiquette and introduce you to my favourite local hot springs — a soothing highlight of every Women on Edge week.
